100. Ink and pencil drawing on 11 x 14 coquille board. I grew up during the 1930s and 40s and I think of them as the "wonder" years. It seemed like day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, I was seeing magical things happen. I watched as electric light was introduced to our apartment house, I listened with earphones to the first crystal radio the neighber next door had purchased, we all ran outside to see, for the first time, an aeroplane noisily flying overhead. And one night, us kids in the neighborhood ran to the ballpark and found a place to sit on the large stone steps that served as stands, and watched as a huge flatbed truck parked in the infield, with a huge silver screen raised up, and as night fell we watched in awe as the screen lit up and we saw our first movies, with sound, "Steamboat Willie" and "Betty Boop" and a bunch of sing-a-long shorts. And so it went. And so it goes today except that now, the young seem to ccepted as routine technological advances, not as miracles.
